You do not get vindication from historical injustice by acquitting a guilty person, only by acquitting an innocent one.
Yet for the black jurors in the O.J. Simpson case, 2 years fresh off of the Rodney King beating inspired riots, after long-simmering hostilities with the L.A. police department, a win was a win. If freeing O.J. was retribution, then so be it. 25 years later, most black people in America seem to believe he did in fact murder his wife and her friend, but at the time the tradeoff was worth it. Pain can motivate you that way.
And so it is with the Left’s modern crusade for ‘criminal justice reform’, which focuses primarily on the incarceration of black people. But while the motivation is a self-nourishing assuagement of (white) guilt over the injustice of slavery, segregation and racism, the consequences – as is always the case – will hurt the very people they claim to care about.
How come the Left is never concerned about the victims of crime?
Sure, they’re concerned about the innocent victims of police or government misconduct, and rightfully so, but they’re never concerned about the victims of actual criminals. If they were, they would not be actively pushing to decriminalize theft (which steals hardworking small businesses money); homelessness, vagrancy and public elimination, which not only poses health risks to the public, but shame and dehumanization of the homeless themselves; and property crimes, which also steals hardworking taxpayers money. You might remember that it was black small business owners who suffered during the riots in Baltimore when their businesses were burned down, and black elderly who didn’t have shelter after their senior center burned down, but this was never mentioned by the liberal media.
Somehow everything has flipped, and now the perpetrators are the sympathetic figures and the victims are portrayed as selfish louts. Such is the way with the Left. They operate at the Id level, a base emotional existence bereft of reason, logic or understanding of the law of unintended consequences. One thing that is clear about the insane ideology of liberalism, what you do doesn’t actually have to be good or productive, you just have to feel good about yourself as you’re doing it. And Malcolm X warned about the white liberal in particular. The videos are on YouTube. People should take a fresh look before they vote for these lunatics.
I study history, including black American or ADOS history (American Descendants’ of Slavery), and am disgusted and heartbroken to know that those atrocities occurred in this country. And I’m not one of those who ever say ‘We fought a war and thousands of white people died, to get rid of slavery, get over it already’, as some do. It wasn’t until only about 50 years ago that racial equality was cemented with national legislation, so the struggle was still going on, and in some ways, does to this day. There still exist vestiges of that dark history, one of which is in the criminal ‘justice’ system.
To say that because of history those who are incarcerated, some for horrific, unfathomable crimes against people, should be released into the community is not only demented, but cruel. We can have a conversation about racial disparities in sentencing, issues like three-strikes laws, mandatory minimums, etc., but if you commit the crime, you should do the time, regardless of skin color.
There must be a way to have adequate punishment for offenses against the general public, and a just and equitable treatment of crime. Victims must be respected and their perpetrators must be punished, and the law-abiding taxpayers ought to feel safe in their persons and their property, but there should be just and not excessive punishment. And we should seek to provide ways to reduce recidivism rather than just warehouse criminals in a finishing school before they get released onto our streets. Unethical and criminal government officials, whether those who wear a badge or those who carry a briefcase, ought to be prosecuted themselves when they break the law, thus ensuring confidence in ‘the system. Democrats and liberals ought to reconsider how their policies are creating the problems in black communities, but I’m not holding my breath on that one. These are thoughtful solutions to real problems and ought to be discussed, debated and worked out.
What’s happening now, though, under the radar, is the opposite of thoughtful solutions, it’s complete insanity. Funded primarily by George Soros, the far Left is instituting a ‘Social Justice’ reform under the guise of criminal justice reform. In their minds, because too many ‘black and brown people’ are incarcerated, the society must now be forced to put up with intolerable circumstances in order to remediate this injustice. Soros is deliberately promoting radical ‘Social Justice Warrior’ DA’s such as in Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco, among others. They believe in ‘social justice’ over law and order and the results couldn’t be more predictable. Chaos, disorder and violence.
A case-study in the coming disruption of cities all across America, is the recently elected Soros-backed District Attorney of San Francisco for instance, is Chesa Boudin, whose parents, Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, were Weather Underground members. When Boudin was 14 months old, his parents were arrested for murder in their role as getaway car drivers in the Brink’s robbery of 1981 in Rockland County, New York. His father is still in prison. He shares their ideology. He has pledged that he ‘will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes,’ such that “Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted.’ So what does that mean for the business owners, residents, taxpaying citizens of a city where you already need a ‘poop map’ to know where not to step in human feces on public streets?
This is happening all over liberal cities and coming to one near you too. In Seattle, prosecutors decline charges in almost half of Seattle misdemeanor cases, a report finds, and police will not charge because they don’t have the support of their mayor. In California, small businessman ‘Perry Lutz says his struggle to survive became a lot harder after California voters reduced theft penalties 1 1/2 years ago. (allowing theft up to $950) About a half-dozen times this year, shoplifters have stolen expensive drones or another of the remote-controlled toys he sells in HobbyTown USA, a small shop in Rocklin, northeast of Sacramento. “It’s just pretty much open season,” Lutz said. “They’ll pick the $800 unit and just grab it and run out the door.” Who could survive under such circumstances?
Because these issues are couched in white and black, with the assumption that only white people are affected, and they are, what’s lost is the fact that black people are affected by these policies too, it’s just not framed that way. If you are a black-owned business in California, for instance, you too fall under the umbrella of Proposition 47, so if theft is accepted, you will suffer for it. If you are black and live in San Francisco and want to walk your children down the street you too will have to endure homeless people pissing and defecating in the street in front of your family. But the media won’t report on how you suffer, and white liberal Chesa Boudin will be able to feel good about himself, so that’s all that matters. See how this works?
None of this is about ‘justice’, it’s about a dystopian left-wing ideology which not only doesn’t bring justice to the minority, it brings injustice to the majority.
Unfortunately, it’s all legal apparently, (for Soros to be buying the District Attorney in your town) and by the time it’s realized and understood what the implications are, it will probably be too late. It’s part of the reason, as I’ve written about before, that politicians actually like the fact that most people hate politics, it keeps them from being held accountable.
Busy people who hate politics don’t make much trouble for them. And by the time they’re already in, they get re-elected most of the time anyway, despite that their constituents don’t like them. So buckle up America, a reckoning is coming, the peace is fragile, and the liberal push for decriminalizing crime and releasing criminals onto our streets without punishment may just end up being the straw that broke the camel’s back.
We have less than a year until the 2020 Presidential election, which will likely decide the fate of the Republic.
